ISPS 2010: Meeting Information

Course Description

To generate this year’s meeting, we surveyed members for their input and suggestions. Thus, the program represents what we all want to discuss. The preliminary program is organized in specialty symposia to highlight unique topics and provide a forum for members to present their experience and generate discussion. On the opening day, we will focus on the techniques (neuronavigation, 2-D and 3-D) and, in particular, results of endoscopic pituitary surgery. Following this, there will be another forum on Cushing’s disease, in which we will discuss evaluation, pathology and IPSS.

We will then break for lunch and return in the afternoon to discuss the role of radiotherapy, hypofractionation, outcomes and the changing role of radiotherapy. The day will end with the report from three different groups on the medical use of Temodar in Pituitary Adenomas.

The first day ends at 3pm, and the group will proceed on a light-hearted trip for a Winery Tour, Wine Tasting and Reception, Dinner and Entertainment. Spouses and significant others are very welcome.

Day 2 will begin open papers and case presentations for discussion. Anyone may tender a case for discussion. Please advise as soon as possible if you wish to bring a case for discussion. We will have two presentations on pathology and stem cells, and one of the ISPS surveys on the use of antibiotic prophylaxis in pituitary surgery. We will have a final symposium on the extended transsphenoidal approach, transcranial surgery and a special lecture on Pituitary senescence. The meeting will end at 12:45, and we will have a closing lunch and then board the coach for departure to San Francisco.
